Augusto says that a simple sewing button may seem insignificant and small when it lays in a grandma’s sewing box, but at the same time it can be very unique and valuable as a part of an artwork. Augusto’s work can be compared to the molecule’s structure- like small atoms, buttons come together in unity and create brilliant art pieces.

Lee Jeffries career began as a sports photographer, capturing the beautiful game of football in Manchester. Then a chance meeting with a homeless woman living in the streets of London changed his life forever. He has since dedicated himself to capturing gripping portraits of the disenfranchised.

Shooting exclusively in black and white, Lee Jeffries’ 135+ pictures can be viewed in his Flickr Photostream. The majority are closeup portraits with incredible detail. Each photograph exudes so much raw character and depth, you find yourself studying each shot with great intensity. Below is a sample of his large collection, the Sifter strongly recommends you check out his entire set on Flickr.

Lee Jeffries lives in Manchester in the United Kingdom. Close to the professional football circle, this artist starts to photograph sporting events. A chance meeting with a young homeless girl in the streets of London changes his artistic approach forever.

Lee Jeffries recalls that, initially, he had stolen a photo from this young homeless girl huddled in a sleeping bag. The photographer knew that the young girl had noticed him but his first reaction was to leave. He says that something made him stay and go and discuss with the homeless girl. His perception about the homeless completely changes. They become the subject of his art.

The models in his photographs are homeless people that he has met in Europe and in the United States: «Situations arose, and I made an effort to learn to get to know each of the subjects before asking their permission to do their portrait.» From then onwards, his photographs portray his convictions and his compassion to the world.
David Kracov’s breathtaking sculpture entitled The Book of Life will really give you butterflies.

The metal sculpture, which stands at around half a metre tall, is a tribute to the extraordinary life of Rabbi Yossi Raichik, director of Charbad’s Children of Chernobyl organisation.

Each of the hand-painted butterflies represents the 2547 children that escaped Chernobyl’s nuclear disaster and, with the help of the charity, have been given a chance at a new life. Butterflies are a prominent feature in Kracov’s work who believes they represent ‘the delicacy and value of a child’s life’.

Absolutely beautiful work!

Ida Skivenes created this food Art pieces, that will surely brighten your day!

In June 2012, she saw a photo on the Internet of two pieces of toast that looked like a bear and a fox and she wondered if she could copy it.

She did and almost immediately people started to take notice. “I got good feedback, so I tested a few of my own ideas,” she tells us. “I found it to be a fun way for me to combine my interests for art and food, plus the chance to exercise my creative side.

Two months ago, Instagram featured her clever food art creations on their blog, which sparked even more people to start following her. Currently, Ida has over 90,000 fans and her simple concepts have evolved to more complicated ones. Inspired by everything from movies and cartoons to modern art, Ida continually surprises her audience because they’re always left wondering where she’ll take them next.

Both of his subjects have oodles of personality which shines through in every image – from the ones where Catherine’s playing a music instrument, while the kitten happily conducts, to where they’re both involved in a somewhat serious game of chess.
Here’s another cool thing you can do with your kids! I can’t imagine a kid that wouldn’t like this The idea is that you take a mold of your kid’s foot or anything else and make the coolest fossil ever!

Here are some basic instructions, but you will easily figure everything out just by watching the pictures.

You will need:

fine sand

container

alabaster

a variety of toys, action figures, stones, shells, etc.

tassel

First, you take some wet sand (enough to cover the surface you’re making the mold in) and pour it in a pot. Do not stump or press it. You need it to be disperse. After that, just get your kid to step into the pot and press as much as possible. Gently pull the leg out of the sand and try to leave a nice footprint (you’l probably need to do this a couple of times, depending on your kid ). You can do the same with any object you want. Then, you need to mix the alabaster to a almost completely liquid state (like a cream), and pour it over the sand mold. The 2 or 3 cm layer would be just enough. Let it dry for about half an hour and gently pull it out of the pot. Use a brush or anything convenient to brush off the remaining sand and VOILA!

Here’s how you can turn a leftover can or vase into an eye-catching piece of eco-décor.

Slice of Nice

This is a simple way to turn a humble vessel into an eye-catching piece of eco-décor. It’s the perfect project to create right after the trees and bushes have had their yearly pruning. Cutting wood into slices lets its beauty and character show. A few thumb-thick branches can yield enough slices to cover a surprising amount of square footage. Be careful, though—once you start seeing the transformation, no plain surface may ever be safe again!

Materials

Several small branches from trees or bushes, ranging from ½ to 1½ inches in diameter

Terra cotta pots, old vases or recycled tin cans

Low-VOC, nontoxic glue.

Coarse sandpaper

Tools
Lopping shears or long-handled pruners

Step 1. Using shears, cut branches into slices about ½-inch thick. You will need slices in a variety of diameters to cover the surface completely.

Step 2. Start at the bottom of the pot or can and work your way up. Dab glue on both the wood slice and the pot’s surface to ensure a good bond.

Note no.1 : Always dry-fit each piece in place first to ensure that it will fit nicely with the other pieces. Fit tiny slices into small, awkward spaces.

Note no.2 : When using an aluminum can or glass as your base, rough up the surface with coarse sandpaper to ensure the glue will adhere.

Let it dry and that’s it!
